I see where you're going with it, but I don't think that's necessarily a good idea. To me that kinda fits the 'square peg, round hole' metaphor- there is a certain type of exclusive love that is between a man and a woman and it is intended for just that, not to be between a man or woman and a community of believers. Maybe your God-given sexuality is not something that needs to be or should be used right now. Not sure, but maybe?

Also, sorry about the lateness of the reply. I'm really bad at checking things I've commented on.

The form of love I was writing about is the love between a man and a woman. To relate to Christ is to have a different form of love, love for a brother, or a father, or a true friend. As I wrote 'Jesus is not my boyfriend'.

I was exploring the metaphor as a part of the journey toward Christ-likeness. If Christ loves the church as his bride, then can I do the same?

The main point is trying to figure out what to do with my God-given sexuality. One way I have attempted to explore that is by loving the community of believers.

Even if you can't see the Saviour as a woman, can you not see Him as someone you can love and hold fast to? You are part of that church and are called to love and obey Him as a wife is called to love and obey her husband.
Yes, we are called to love the church and I love where this post takes that analogy, but the metaphor is that as man is the head of woman in marriage, so Christ is the head of His church.

Because that's how God chose the reveal himself. I think a male saviour alters how we relate to him, especially reflecting on a near eastern male 2000 years ago. The Saviour is as timeless and transcendent as God, naturally, yet the person of Jesus Christ was a man in first century Palestine.

The maleness of Jesus is significant because that was part of his identity. In the same way as being as Jewish Rabbi was part of his identity.

I can't imagine the saviour as a woman primarily because in the scriptures the saviour is a man.

Why do you have to believe there is something significant in Jesus being male? You can't imagine the saviour as a woman because?...Not seeing any justification for this. Alex xxx
