Warplane Almighty

by i.burgess on August 3, 2010

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith ;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

where did you take the photo

I went to the Imperial War Museum twice this summer. I hate the name. I hate war. But what I really like about that place is that it doesn’t glorify war at all (or at least not obviously) … and the Holocaust Memorial is well worth visting. For those who don’t believe in the depravity of man …. look again. And to see how the church was culpable … well that links with another post of yours. We might have the right doctrine but if we dont’ live out our faith as Christians … well it’s not worth much.

I look at those who are pacifists with respect (mostly) and I especially honour those who stood up (at personal cost) to the nastiness of the Nazis … those who hid Jews, and those who were working for peace.

I am not sure total pacifism is workable … because there are quite frankly nasty leaders out there … but there has to be a better way. Jesus taught us that!
