Room with a Sidewalk View

by i.burgess on June 6, 2011

When your Son Jesus Christ lived among us as an ordinary man, he shared the loves, the joys and the sadness of family life.

He knew what it was to work hard, and when he left his home and his family to do work he chose to live as one who had nowhere to lay his head.

We pray for all those this day who are homeless, for the abandoned children on the streets, for the mentally ill whom no one wants, for the young people who can no longer live in the family home, for those who have no money.

We pray especially for those who are being exploited, for those who are turning to drink or drugs for consolation, for those who are desperately miserable and long for home.

Guard them, dear Lord, as a shepherd guards his sheep, and when they are ready to receive you and your help may we be there to open the door and welcome them home.

Amen
